There's nothing worse than a website that doesn't tell you who they are. So here goes!
Florist Pages is one of three consumer websites created by Caroline Marshall-Foster, who also happens to own the industry's only independent trade magazine, Florist & Wholesale Buyer – celebrating it’s Diamond Anniversary this year!
Having worked with florists for 30 years and seen the way the Internet has changed flower buying, Caroline knows that sadly too many consumers end up with rubbish or smaller designs that don’t represent good value because so many commissions and cuts are taken by the middlemen – or order gatherers as they are called in the US.
But rather than harrumph and moan about it she decided to put her money where her mouth was and launched a range of sites that would put consumers in contact with real bricks and mortar flower shops rather than anonymous call centres who take as much as 33% of your money for passing on the order to a florist shop.
The result? You have total confidence that you are talking to a genuine florist shop, better value because all the money is used for the order and a far more personal service. And because the flowers are delivered by a local flower shop, not a courier company in a big cardboard box, it’s better for the planet as well.
Florist Pages lists every florist in the UK… and all of them checked to make sure they are genuine businesses… not fake addresses which can happen on sites like Yell.
They are then sub sorted into different categories depending on what sort of florist they are.
Top of the list are our Master Florists who have all gone through a strict validation process. This means that their shops have been assessed by independent verifiers from the Society of Floristry, British Florist Association and the Flowers & Plants Association as well as the Editor of Florist & Wholesale Buyer and other Master Florists.
Next up are our F&WB Good Florist shops. Whilst these have not been evaluated in quite the same way as the Master Florists these shops are either known to us or have been recommended by others on the list. Having filled in an extensive questionnaire we are confident that they are good enough to be included.
And finally there are all the other shops in the UK. They may be wonderful but as yet they haven’t gone through either accreditation process but as soon as they do we’ll let you know which category they appear in.
